Mango

Mango was an orange bird
He never had it rough
His owner thought she'd clipped his wings
But she didn't clip enough
One minute on her shoulder
One breeze and he was gone
She only wanted him to stay
He only thought that he'd move on
Getting dark
Getting cold
Her neighbors were abuzz
They all looked everywhere for him
Except for where he was
I saw him late next afternoon
Way up the tallest tree
Singing strong his loudest song
"Why can't you come and find me?"
They never saw each other
Now the story's taken wing
The picture's gone
But the frame hangs on
In the hollow of lost things
