For the longest time, this tune was called "People Stupid".  That's where it came from.  One of my fellow bus drivers would occasionally come into the driver room downtown between trips and say, in a spirit of wonderment and some exasperation, "People Stupid!".  Or "People Crazy!"

And, you know what, we are. My driver friend had just, by virtue of his occupation, been confronted yet again by a simple truth about our species.  We are, in fact, stupid.  We are, in fact, crazy.

But in defence of the above mentioned Motor Coach Opperator, his was not a mean-spirited observation.

He went out and drove the next trip, offering service to all the primates, stupid, crazy, lucky, lazy, beautiful.

We are beautiful, too.
