Illumination
(All We Need Is Love)
I started writing this song way back in 1991, when Karen and I were living on Foster Street
in New Haven, CT.

I had one little room with all my music stuff in it, and I was laying on the floor reading John Lennon's "Skywriting By Word of Mouth." In fact, I was at the very beginning of the book where John writes of his vision of meeting a particular special woman, and how that vision changed when he began to imagine this woman as dark-haired and Asian - which seemed to magnetize Yoko Ono into his life.

My recollection is that Karen walked into the room singing the Beatles "All You Need Is Love", and snuggled with me for a bit. This was the year before we were married. I changed the Beatles concept to All WE Need Is Love, and I've now been writing this song for the last 29 years.

It could work great as a wedding song.
Illumination
(All We Need Is Love)
Time and time again there will be times like this one
You and I together
Yet alone
Standing at a crossroads
With a chance to choose one path
To call our own
And though our choice be shades of gray
I believe we’ll find our way
If the sun should leave the sky
Though the moon be cold and white
We will be illuminated still
All we need is love
Love will be our light
Then when every road seems lost
There will be a path that shines
Broad enough to travel side by side
All we need is love
Love will be our guide
Love will bring us world enough and time
Enough to laugh and cry and play
And with you, my love, beside me
We will choose as one
And our love’s light will grow
All we need is love
And then
We will find our way
I know
There will never be a simple world
But there will be a light
Shining where we stand
All we need is love
Time and time again

All we need is love
