BrainSurgeons R Us

Way back in the very hot summer 1980 I was living in North Hollywood. On Sunday afternoons my friend (and guitarist extraordinaire) Charlie Fechter would come over to hang out and goof around with music.

Musically, it was a puzzling time. The 1970s record business was dying its preordained demographic death.

In the world of rock n roll there were a few new bright lights, foremost among them the Police. The B52s were a fresh sound.

These were the waters within which the BrainSurgeons emerged.

Eventually, our mutual friend Steve Sullivan would join us on electric piano and synthesizer.

I really liked the musical style that emerged.

A few of these tunes still have legs.
